What are the Community Events?

The Redressing Imbalance: Community events are a series of events hosted by Good Finance in partnership with Pathway Fund.

The events take place online and are a space for charity and social enterprise leaders from Black and Racialised communities to build connections and knowledge around social investment so as to feel more confident in:

  • Knowing how to become ‘investment ready’ and what support is available
  • Understanding what social investment is, and where it sits alongside grants and other forms of funding
  • Searching for and connecting with social investors, and knowing when the right time is to do so
  • Knowing how other organisations have used social investment and the challenges and opportunities they experienced along the way
Why are Good Finance running these events in partnerships with Pathway Fund?

Research from reports including The Adebowale Commission on social investment have found that Black and Racially Minoritised leaders face disproportionate barriers to accessing social investment. At Good Finance, our role is to be a trusted source of information for organisations across the UK who are navigating social investment. This event series seeks to create an intentional space for leaders who have experienced systemic inequity and challenges in accessing finance to build connections and knowledge around social investment.

Who should attend?

These events are intended for charity and social enterprise leaders from Black and Ethnically Minoritised communities, or leaders who are working for a majority Black/Ethnically Minoritised-led organisation.

What is the format of the event?

The events will take place online and will be a combination of short presentations, followed by group discussions and Q&A.

Will I be able to pitch or receive funding?

No. The purpose of these events is to build knowledge and connections to support you on your social investment journey, at whatever stage you’re at. It is a space for shared learning and connections; we will share tools and resources to help you better understand social investment. Good Finance does not provide financial advice, investment nor broker any investments.
