The second podcast in our latest series explores social investment in a changing world. Throughout this series, hear from six brilliant charity and social enterprise leaders on their experiences, hopes and fears for the future and how social investment has or might play a role.

In this episode, Davie Parks, Managing Director, speaks to Good Finance about The Skill Mill, a not-for-profit social enterprise providing social employment opportunities for young people aged 16-18. The Skill Mill works with young offenders who face a number of significant challenges, with its programmes helping to bring a transformational impact. After three years of negotiation, The Skill Mill was weeks away from signing a social outcomes contract when the pandemic unnerved local authority service commissioners. Designed to help 220 young people to break the cycle of re-offending and gain valuable work experience, a global health pandemic was not going to get in the way of this contract going ahead!
