Trust for London is an independent charitable foundation able to consider social investment opportunities that match our mission to tackle poverty and inequality in London.
For more than century Trust for London has been at the forefront of efforts to help London’s poor to help themselves - each year we make grants totalling around £7.5 million and at any one time we are supporting up to 400 organisations. We also fund independent research and provide knowledge and expertise on London’s social issues to policymakers and journalists.
Alongside our grant-making we make social investments that offer organisations the financial resources they need to support work that generates an income whilst delivering social returns. This type of finance can help organisations to diversify their funding base, reduce their reliance on grant funding and increase their social impact. Typically our social investments will be loans or equity and, whilst we can be flexible about the size or terms of investments we make, all investments of this type must clearly demonstrate they deliver useful social outcomes to Londoners.
